Yesteryear Collection

While the Chevy Chevelle always looked muscular, in fact it was a little underpowered in the early '60s. At that time, its 283-cubic-inch engine was easily beaten by cars with monstrous powerplants. But Chevrolet quickly responded to the thirst for more power among the many who liked the Chevelle's superior styling. Even by 1965, this classic car boasted a 396-cubic-inch engine that produced a very respectable 375 horsepower. To carry all this power, the Chevelle's body was reinforced, the suspension was strengthened and special heavy-duty shocks and springs was added. In 1968, Chevrolet continued to evolve the Chevelle look with a whole new redesign. The car got smaller, leaner and much sportier. It was very well received, but the thirst for more power continued. Hence the 1970 model was equipped with a mind-boggling 454-cubic-inch engine that delivered 450 horsepower, transforming the Chevelle into one of the fastest cars on the road...and the dragstrip. Considered by many automotive enthusiasts the greatest Chevelle ever, the 1970 model is recaptured in a meticulously crafted die-cast model. This replica is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
